Single Vehicle Rollover on Churchtown Road with Fly-outs
5-31-08 As members were winding down around the firehouse from a long day of "spring cleaning", Station 49 (White Horse) and area EMS (including aero-medical), were dispatched to the 300 block of Churchtown Rd. for the MVC with Entrapment. A few minutes later County added Rescue 39 to assignment. This brought Engine 1 and the Rescue, along with the Squad from New Holland. As units from 39 were responding, command advised of a single vehicle rollover with one patient heavily trapped. Command also added a second Rescue to the assignment bringing Rescue 33 (Honey Brook) and requested a second helicopter to fly. Engine 391 arrived first and set up operations on the driver side while Rescue 33 set up operations on the Passenger side of the vehicle. Due to mechanism of entrapment and condition, both rescue crews worked for nearly an hour to extricate the patient from the wreckage. In all, 4 patients were either grounded or flown to area trauma centers.
Wanted: New Borough Sign
6-06-08 Shortly before noon today, Company 39 was dispatched for a Motor Vehicle Crash with reported injuries at the intersection of Rt.23, and Tower Road. Engine 391, Rescue, and the Squad made the response with 18 personnel, and arrived to find a two car crash, with injuries. The crew from Engine 1 started patient care, and de-energized both vehicles, while the Rescue and Squad crew took care of fluids and misc. cleanup. The patient was transferred into EMS care, and the units went available shortly after.
This Weeks Monday Night Training: Vehicle Fires
6-2-08 This Monday evening for our weekly training topic, the dept. covered vehicle fires. The volunteers loaded up in both Engines, Truck, and the Hose, and made their way to the New Holland Concrete plant. From here, crews split into 4 teams, and rotated using both Engines, to simulate arriving on different scenarios of vehicle fires. Thanks to all the volunteers who were able to make it out, including their families, and our "smaller" appreciation crew.
